Meet some of the amazing staff that work at BPL!

Laura

Laura, our Service Delivery Manager, started as a page at the BPL during her high school years, chose library science as a career, and is now the longest-standing member of our team. When she’s not busy keeping the Library running smoothly, compiling and revising schedules, ordering materials, planning efficient renovations, training staff, assigning tasks and working on a multitude of assignments, Laura likes to read biographies and historical fiction. On her days off, she enjoys getting together with her friends and family around a roaring campfire, playing games — especially the dice game — eating good food and sharing stories and music at her campground trailer during the warm months or heading out on trips to explore the world.

Lisa

Lisa, our specialist in Kids & Families, will celebrate 15 years at the library in September 2023. She’s been busy lately coordinating our summer students and planning some great, fun activities for the school break and the TD Summer Reading Club. Besides helping customers find the right tools for their educational and entertainment needs, Lisa participates in our weekly “unravelled” yarncraft group on Wednesday afternoons and recently launched a new program called “the resistance: subversive stitching” which takes place on the 4th Wednesday of every month from 5:30-7 pm. Lisa enjoys learning new things by reading current non-fiction books, is fond of cozy mysteries and has settled quite comfortably into the eco-friendly small home that she helped to build.

Leisa

Leisa, one of our dedicated Library Assistants, joined the team on her youngest daughter’s second birthday in January 2004. She works at both the circulation and information desks, part-icipates in several book clubs in the library and spearheads our bi-monthly magazine. Behind the scenes, she does editing, and catalogues and processes CELA DAISY materials. When she’s not working at the Library, Leisa enjoys spending time with her friends and large family and is in her happy place when she’s cooking and “baking up a storm” of gluten-free goodies for her booth at the seasonal Brockville Farmers’ Market. Leisa enjoys reading a variety of different books, but is partial to current fiction and suspense novels at the moment. She also looks forward to a yearly winter vacation in Cuba with her best friend & a pile of books!
