Getting Started with PressReader

PressReader provides online access to newspapers and magazines from over 150 countries and over 60 languages.

Read newspapers and magazines such as Toronto Star, Rolling Stone and many more on your devices. Access to The Globe and Mail is limited to library computers or the library’s wireless network.

What you need

• A valid Brockville Public Library card
• A computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection for reading online.
• The PressReader app for iOS or Android is required for downloading newspapers and magazines to read offline.
• A PressReader account is required for offline use.

Read on the web

Use a public computer at the library or use your own device on our Wi-Fi here at the library to browse without creating an account. If you do not create an account, you will have to return to the library after 3 days to reauthorize for use outside of the library.

Create a PressReader account

A PressReader account is required to save personalized settings, share articles and download newspapers and magazines for offline reading through the app. You may have to sign in again after a period of 30 days.

To create an account on a computer:

1. Go to pressreader.com. Click Sign in and click Library or Group
2. Click in the Search Libraries and Groups box at the top and type Brockville. Click on our logo.
3. Enter your library card number (in full, with no spaces) and PIN, then click sign-in.
4. On the left menu, browse to view titles by subject, language, country or publication type (i.e. magazine or newspaper).
5. Click on an issue and click read now.
6. You’re all set and ready to start reading!

To create an account on a smartphone or tablet:

1. Download the app for iOS or Android.
2. Open the app and tap Sign in.
3. On the next scren, tap Libraries and Groups.
4. Tap Select Library or Group within the drop-down menu.
5. Either allow the app to use your location to locate your library, or dismiss this message and search for Brockville Public Library instead. Tap on the library logo to connect.
6. Enter your library card number (in full, with no spaces) and PIN, then click sign-in.
7. Tap Browse to view titles by subject or filter by language, country or publication type (i.e. magazine or newspaper).
8. You’re ready to start reading!
